Week of firsts

Last Saturday we finally popped a tooth! I've been waiting for months now and finally one has broken through the surface (bottom, front). And today Alyssa took her first stride forward crawling. She's been moving backwards using just her hands but today she slightly figured out how to move forwards. I'm sure within the week she'll be moving and driving us crazy. Luckily we've done most of the baby proofing, we just need to put install a few cabinet locks (only doing the ones with things we REALLY don't want her getting in to, like the garbage and bathroom cabinets).

We had a busy week and still have a busy weekend ahead of us. Last Saturday we had a Fabian family bbq and it was everyone's first time seeing Alyssa since she was 3 weeks old. Alyssa was quite cranky due to the tooth popping through but we survived. Cousin Lesley was quite nice and told me how she understands that family gatherings are difficult with all the pass the baby and such. I think the disappointing thing for me was I felt I didn't have a "quality" conversation or visit with anyone.

Sunday we had Jenn's baby shower. I opted to leave Alyssa home as she had a busy day the day before, and had woken up a few times that night because of the tooth. It was nice to have a ladies afternoon baby-free. Rosemary and I went together and we got stuck for an hour on the 401 in a 1 km stretch of the highway due to the massive propane explosion. That made for a long day/drive home.

This weekend Ryan is in a friends (Johnny) wedding party. He had the tux pick up/fitting Wednesday, we had the rehearsal last night, more guys stuff tonight and the wedding tomorrow. Hopefully Sunday we can just spend relaxing.
