First trip to L&D

Well I thought I was in labour Sunday night/Monday morning. This wasn't the first time I had thought this; but it was the first time that it got progressively worse. It started around 1 a.m. and woke me up. Around 5:30 we decided to go to the hospital as the contractions were 5 mins. apart and lasting 30-45 seconds. They hooked me up at the hospital and the contractions were not strong enough to show up on the monitor. At 8 a.m. my OB was in the hospital to induce someone so she came in to check me. I was 1-2 cms dialated but they suggested I go home and labour at home. Walking was also suggested as gravity can help. So it is now Thursday and I've been in "pre labour" since Sunday night. Every day I've been doing 45 mins or so on the treadmill to try and get gravity to help me along. Tuesday I cleaned the house from top to bottom; then I had an OB appt for her to check me and I had made a little more progress. Today I went to the mall to walk around for a bit and to have Chinese food for lunch, which is another "old wives tale" that helps to speed things along. I keep thinking I'm making progress and then nothing happens. This is the most frustrating experience. Last night, for example, I had contractions for 3 hours, 5 mins apart and it seems once I start writing them down to track them, they stop. I think it is the worst since it is out of my control. I have found it hard that family, friends and neighbours wants to know what is going on as well. During the day I don't answer the phone, and at night Ryan screens the calls. I can't deal with everyone calling to see what is happening, which is nothing, and feeling frustrated with the lack of progress at the same time. Don't get me wrong I love that we have so many people who care about us and are excited for baby to arrive but I promise you, we won't keep it a secret when it happens! Tomorrow I have my car booked in for service so maybe baby will come and I'll miss the appointment, or maybe baby will come so that Ryan misses hockey tonight. I believe my dad was playing squash when mom went in to labour with all of us...so perhaps I will go through a similar situation. If not, induction was being set for the 17th so a maximum of 7 days to go!
