905ers should pick up the slack?

I have blogged before about the difference in property taxes around the GTA...I came across this article on theStar.com and wow does it make me mad. Give it a quick read if you have a second. I can't believe the writer suggests we 905ers should pick up MORE of Toronto's taxes. Now I can acknowledge some of her points; however what about ours? Why should I pay property taxes to improve things in a city I rarely visit (especially now that we have a baby). Flushing the toilet while someone is showering doesn't have anything to do with property tax. My parents house is the same. It has to do with the plumbing of your house! And the businesses which we 905ers frequent in Toronto must also pay property tax which helps to cover the "costs of when we come to play" in Toronto. We contribute to their bottom line which covers those taxes. UGH!
