If you're happy and you know it

The other day while changing Alyssa's diaper I was singing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" to her, and to my surprise she clapped her hands, right on cue. What a genius :)

On another happy note, we found daycare! A home care setting in town. 2 of the children who attend the daycare have a father who is a police officer so they won't be at daycare when dad is off shift. So Alyssa will get lots of attention. The provider will take them to our local "family place" a drop in centre for moms and children and to the library and splash pad in the summer. I am also thrilled she won't be taking them anywhere in her car (surprisingly it is hard to find a home provider that doesn't take children places in their vehicle). It isn't that I don't trust her to drive with Alyssa, it is the other drivers on the road, and the distraction of having so many young children in a vehicle with you.

And another happy final note, Alyssa took her first step on Saturday. I missed it. Ryan was playing with her and the dog and she was standing supported by the counter and then stepped (and fell) to go see Sam. She is motoring around the house with her little mail cart walker and has figured out how to back up and change direction to keep walking if you run in to an obstacle (like the wall).

On Saturday I gave Alyssa pancakes for the first time. She quite enjoyed them until later on. I think we have an egg allergy on our hands as she's been sick. I am hoping it goes away with age as it did with my brother Paul.
