Slow down...

One thing I sort of like about having a baby is she forces us to slow down. When I'm frantically trying to get ready to go somewhere, gather all our things, etc, and she needs to eat I am forced to stop, make her bottle, and feed her (she usually takes about 10 mins to drink her bottle). One of my friends was saying how at six months the baby should be feeding herself her bottle and if she's hungry enough she'll figure out how to hold and drink it (from what research I did they shouldn't be drinking their bottle on their own until they can sit unsupported which was much later than 6 months for Alyssa). I'm sure she would figure it out but it is our special alone time with her and I don't want to give that up...we will have years ahead of us when she'll want nothing to do with us so I might as well enjoy this while it lasts! Last night we had friends over for dinner and we were busy preparing everything to sit down to eat. It was time for Alyssa to go to bed so I was forced to take 15 minutes away from the craziness of getting dinner ready and do the whole bath, bottle, bed routine. I cherish these alone times we have as she's growing way too fast.

Speaking of growing too fast, she proved me wrong this week and started crawling forwards. I thought she'd go right to walking but now she's crawling. It is funny you read how you can help babies learn to crawl by holding toys away from them on the floor and they'll figure out how to get to them. She learned to crawl because she wanted Sam's ball. Of all the times we've attempted to use her toys who knew we just needed to persuade her with Sam's!
