I'm not sure if Puddles was purchased before Kai came along, but I thought Becky and Keith had a great idea with Puddles. Puddles is a small plush Ty toy who they purchased in multiples so that when one Puddles was dirty and in need of going through the wash, another would be available. Or if one gets lost there is a back up. Keeping with this idea we purchased Zips on the weekend. Zips is a cute turtle. I thought I'd introduce you to Zips because I'm sure you will see a lot of Zips in pictures, etc, going forward:

Actually, Puddles was purchased by one of Kai's sets of grandparents when he was about 3 months old. When it became obvious that it was the "important toy", we bought another one - he was about 10 months old then. And then when he was about 2 years old, one of his great aunts bought him one for Easter, completely unaware of it's importance. However, the third Puddles isn't as worn is as the first, so it is considered the "other Puddles", not the "good one."
Incidentally, my mother (currently visiting) just purchased another one that we are going to put away for 10-15 years, just so he can have a "before and after". :)
